Chris, this is just an opinion but I would thing any mineral added to the water would be pulled out and deposited on the plates. That is what causes the drop off in ability to fully charge a battery. Plus that is the reason distilled water is recomended. Pure water with no minerals in it to create scale. Some tap water is so clean it will work fine in batteries.
