I used silicon spray from auto zone, liquid wrench brand. First spray lasted about a year til now. I've got a glass boat.

Like someone else said, be careful, don't unhook your boat til you are ready to launch, some slick stuff. Don't know much about the silicon types, but Goodtime said it didn't matter.

I too could never get mine to slide up when landing. I used the silicone spray from advance auto and now barely have to give it gas. Just be sure you don't take hook off till near water. My G3 aluminum will slide off on a steep ramp or if you stop too fast.

I use a Drotto remote latch that works great on most ramps and allows me to leave the boat latched until I'm completely in the water and it latches automatically when I pull it up on the trailer. Only problem is some steep ramps make it hard to use when putting boat back on the trailer.
