The round battery cover on the remote and looks like the threads in the battery compartment are damaged and the cover won't stay on. I don't see how it could have broken. Is it possible it melted from excessive heat by being in the truck? Anyone ever have this problem, and is there a fix without buying a new remote? Thanks.

Look in the battery compartment on that black metal strip, not on the cap. If there is an A, you will have to get them to send you a new cap, maybe a new back as well. If no A, they will send you a replacement back and battery cover. Not hard to replace, and you will be good to go. Just call them and it's a free upgrade.

EZ what is the difference if there is an A or not? New cap won't work...I tried one from a friends remote. Mine does not have an A.
Had the same problem last year. Minn Kota rep wanted me to send her proof of purchase. Called me back a few minutes
later and said she didn't need it. I sent her the old one, she sent me a new one. Painless. I sent the old one back in the
box she sent me the new one in.
Tell'em I'll be there.
If your remote back looks like this one without the A stamped in the black strip, call 800-227-6433 and they will send you a new one. The only problem You may have is the small Allen screw at one end, the others are Phillip.
I just received a new remote for my Rip Tide. Of course it was under warranty but I was having the battery in the remote last no more than a few trips. They told me to send mine in and I said it was a good thing I had a spare or I would have been down (have a foot pedal just in case). I received my replacement much quicker than I expected, probably 2 days.

Not exactly a free fix, but the parts were cheap enough. Back cover 4 dollars and change, battery cover 2 dollars and change. They said my motor is out of warranty. Either way, beats buying a new remote, lol. Since I had to pay shipping anyway, a I ordered a couple extras, and they will fit my other terrova remote if the need arises.
