I have not fried crappie... but I have fried swai fillets....There is very little difference in taste/texture in my opinion between air fryer and oil frying, Is there a little difference sure there is, but it's pretty darn close. I have cooked the following

    french fry's
    buffalo wings
    steak
    swai
    chicken legs/theighs
    slider burgers
    asperagus wrapped bacon

Just got one of these Invalid URL and have only used it once for some chicken wings and fries and I sure hope every thing we cook in it come out as nice. The chicken was brown and moist on the inside and the fries were crisp and not oily. So after just one meal we are keeping it. Will need to try crappie.

If it's not cooked in oil...it's not fried.
