dang. I fish in and around trees in Lake Conway in Arkansas from mid March till late September. You always have to be on the lookout for snakes and huge wasp nests. Scary and dangerous both.

I had a buddy purposely back his boat up under an overhanging limb at Lake Eufaula with me on the back casting deck. I didn't figure out what was up until I saw a medium sized cottonmouth on the limb. I told him if he didn't get me out from under that snake, I was going to beat him to death with my spinnerbait rod. Snake just raised its head and watched us leave. That same tournament I fished with a guy who had a big bloody spot on his front deck where he had stomped a cottonmouth to death that hit a buzzbait the day before. I told him if he hooked another, I would gladly let him pick out any baits in my tackle boxes to replace the one he would cut off before swinging another cottonmouth into the boat with me in it. We saw several that day that followed spinnerbaits and buzzbait in the cabbage beds up near Fort Benning. Luckily none bit that day.
