Gotta remember I am working with a cooler here...trying to figure out how to alter it to be the most efficient

This is what we used to make one out of ice chest for HookOnes boat

And you can still put a timer on it if you want....You could also add Power Bubbles air pump and two air stones to the cooler as well.

Two sides of power bubbles running to a 5 inch stone now. Going to add a recirculator now

You can also get a bilge pump put about 10' of hose and extend the power leads and add a lighter plug or a set of clamps for your battery. That way you have a way to fill the tank while on the water and you can pump some water out and fresh water back in every now and then. I tied a 6 ounce sinker to my pump so it would sink good and I always try to sink it 2 or 3 feet in the lake hoping for cooler water.

Hit walmart clearance sales like I did years ago and you'd have everything you need for cheap.
