He got a call this morning. They will be sending shipping labels and instructions along with a $100 gift card.

Some folks see things like that and then get angry when the vendor admits that they made a mistake. They make up magic legal phrases that are supposed to entitle them to $4 king-sized mattresses. They are literally mad that a vendor would rather not be taken to the cleaners on a misprint. Frankly, it says a lot about your son's character. He saw an opportunity and took it, but remained above-board and honest when he didn't need to be.
