I'm with you, G. I think it's broke. I'll try a regular meat thermometer. Wonder if I can use it while using the smoker??

First thing I would do is call masterbuilt. May be a warranty repair.

How long have you had the unit.Call Masterbuilt, talk to an engineer and see what they say. They replaced every heating part on my cousins unit free of charge trying to find why he was not getting any smoke at the lower settings. Finally they told him to cut the power cord off at the unit, take a picture and send it to them and they replaced his entire smoker free of charge. He now has all the removable parts and the new parts they sent him to use in the future if anything goes out. You can't beat that for customer service! 1 800 489-1581.

Only a year old. Think I'll give that a try. Thanks, everybody, for the info.

My MasterBuilt did not come with the meat probe.....I bought at wireless meat thermometer with a remote at walmart for about twenty bucks. I works great I can read the temp on the remote in the house and when the internal meat temp gets to target temp it beeps.
