And....also when you get Medi-Care age they deduct payment for that from your SS check....then you have to get a supplement health ins. policy on your own and pay for it....if you dont you have to pay a penalty.

And don't forget you have to purchase a partD policy for your medicine. That is separate from most supplement health ins. policies. There is also penalties if you don't get part D. Not a hole lots of money left for food at the end of the month.
Be safe and good luck fishing
Question. We'd BOTH get Social Security checks, right? Nessa and myself? Like I said, I haven't done ANYTHING, got to figure it all out. Kinda hit me like a ton of bricks the other day

Seriously, someone said something about the money bubble bursting. That was very good advise. I had planned to retire at 51 which would have been last year. When the dot com/housing bubble burst, I lost a small fortune and still haven't made it up. I figure I'm going to be working until the day I die and still will have to work 4 hours the day of the funeral.
not to stray too far off base, but this is exactly the kind of things that should be taught starting in high school. all that history, algebra and fancy math is fine, but basic financial smarts such as home mortgages, loans, power of interest, different investment options, credit cards, taxes, so on an so forth need to be a priority. we have kids getting credit card offers straight out of high school. they prey on the uneducated. just think if most were actually smart enough and had the willpower to start saving as small as 5% of what they make beginning with job 1 how easy it really would be to have saved for retirement.
Last but not least, maybe an entire course of the laws and risk of divorce!!! Sure didn't plan for that one and bet I don't make the same mistake twice! Someone once said, "cheaper to keep her"![]()

Right.....you can both draw a ss check......you need to sit down and talk with a good accountant.....let him explain things to you and give him your info and let him advise you and help you work out a plan.

I've been blessed to not take a lot of medicine. I'm 70 and I don't have a drug policy because the insurance premiums exceed my drug costs. So far, I've not seen any penalty. Maybe I will be penalized if I buy one later. I don't know?
They penalize you when you file your income tax....thats just part of Obamas health care plan
