    I saw those last year while fishing Kentucky Lake and was told they were May Flies...I thought they looked like grass shrimp myself,,,

    Scott; Thanks for sharing this post and pictures on pulling cranks. I have caught freshwater shrimp down here in clarke county while seining for minnows before.

    I cleaned 21 and maybe 5 of them had been eating the grass shrimp. They looked like they were full of eggs, their bellies stuck out so much. Reminded me of some geezers I know. Lol

    They may have been full of them shrimp but they still couldn't turn down that Fat crank bait.Congrats on your catch and good info!

    First of all, nice catch Scott. Second, dang good observation, looks like some sort of grass shrimp to me also. Were you pulling thru or over some type of grass beds?

    As far as I know there was no grass in the area. I was fishing several hundred yards from the bank. I scaled 6 fish and when cutting off their heads I exposed their stomach contents. Yesterday I fileted 11 and never cut into their stomachs. So I checked a couple and they had grass shrimp also. No telling how many I've fileted over the years without knowing they were full of them.
