I figured I'd give some of the $26 baitcast reels on Amazon a shot to see how they'd do as crappie reels for trolling and such. Sadly, they're just not up to snuff and they're going back to Amazon. Flimsy plastic, awkward handle that is way too far back on the reel, and casting marks all over the place.

I'll spend the extra couple of dollars for linecounters, I guess.
