Last time that happened to me I went on the tool truck and spent 53.00 for a special tool to remove those clamps. Didn't think I would ever get the feeling back in that finger.

Spent most of the day repairing the heating/ cooling system on the ole Jeep!New thermostat, housing gasket, top and bottom hoses, system flush etc.Wednesday, I get to re-drain the system, fill it with water, drain it again, and refill it with 50/50 coolant. That drain plug was a woop! You need a midget to get his hand in that tight spot.Bout cried when that compression clamp on the hose popped off the end of my pliers just as I had it all the way compressed and it hit the end of my thumb and it felt like I had bashed it with a hammer!Jeep blows some good heat now!

I hate those spring clamps. I replace them with the screw type when I get them off.

I found out I am a victim of Detroit (non)engineering. I had a trouble code come up on my wife's Saturn indicating it was running too cool most likely due to an open thermostat. I use to could change the thermostat in my old cars in less than 30 minutes. My shop that does my light maintenance like tires and oil etc. told me this job was more complicated than they would tackle.
3.6 hours labor to change it. It is buried such that you have to take half the engine out to get to it. I was an engineer in my career and if I had ever designed something like that, they would have fired me. Must be the Saturn engineers, we had to take the fuel tank off to change the fuel pump.![]()
Mark 1:17 ...I will make you fishers of men
SlabLapper what kind of jeep you working on?
Here fishy, fishy, fishy...
Allboy79, a1999 Jeep Cherokee w/a4.0 six.Doing a radiator flush,so gonna run it a hour or so a couple days, then drain it, flush it with water, and drain and fill with coolant. The thermostat was sticking open,so I replaced it along with the hoses.I used hex clamps on 2 spots and had to reuse the spring clamps in the other 2 areas where it was too restrictive.Just my pull the boat to the lake truck!Need to do some front end work on it but going to wait till it gets warmer, maybe this spring!G and cray, I'm gonna find me a pair of them clamp pliers for sure. This ain't no ugly foot pic even though my thumb does look like my big toe!!![]()

That clamp took off like a guided missile after it took out my thumb and hit the far wall of the garage pretty hard. Glad no one was around!I did sound like the father in Christmas Story after those dogs got his turkey!![]()
