You should be able to enter the e mail address under the contact name and choose that as to where to send to .... or you can fill in the e mail address as the recipient you want to send it to when composing.
For ex. on my phone when texting in the (To: ) field I can enter... [email protected] ... as who I'm sending the text to and it goes to their e mail account.

I just hit the email button on mine then hit the compose symbol......type in email addy.......then type my message and send

Not asking about an email, asking about texting to a email address. We could do it between his iPhone and my iPad. The emailing works fine. May just work between Apple stuff. My iPad is wifi only.

Steve Google texting to an email using android, may have to download an app but it can be done.
