I buy my oil etc. from the Yammy dealer in Columbus now since we no longer have a boat dealer in Tupelo.....I order on the phone from the guy in Columbus and he sends it to me by UPS or FedEx.....shipping is a lot cheaper than I can drive to go get it.

I asked the same question on another board about a year ago. A marine mechanic told me that as long as the oil is rated TCW-3, it is safe to use in all two stroke outboards. To have a TCW-3 rating, it must be compatible to mix with all brands of TCW-3 rated 2 stroke oil. The guy I bought my boat from only ran AmsOil in it. That got real expensive and hard to find around here. I started using Quick Silver and it works just fine. Smokes a little more but runs just as good.

I use Quicksilver in my Yamaha, used it in my Johnson for 20 years. I would stay away from the gas station/parts store oils, but Quicksilver is sold here by Walmart as well as many other dealers so I would go with that. It is high quality stuff.

I used the Pennzoil in a 50 Merc I used to own for 22 years and never had a problem.

I was told by several mechanics not to use it, got a buddy that told me it wasn't a problem and it was cheaper. He is now looking for another 150 as his is toast, may or may not have been the oil but Quick Silver has been recommended by pretty much all the mechanics and its easy to get. Key is to use it, I don't trust no oiler either, mix every drop of fuel that goes thru mine. May blow tomorrow but it wont be to lack of oil!!!!
