Not sure exactly why you feel you have been bent over, last year was the best year we have had since the FJs started partly because we didn't fish those lakes, fact.
It was suggested in years past and I will suggest it again, start something up down there in central MS and have at it. As you know it takes work to pull these things off and try to keep them straight, why put in the time it takes for a tourney to just have 5 or 6 boats fish it?? Don't make sense and also isn't productive as far as building the championship which is our goal, boat numbers means its working to us.
Sorry it doesn't suit you but it hasn't suited you for a while, do something about it whether it be qualify for our championship and voice your opinion or get sumpin started down there.

Like he said, DD. It's all about building the payout for the championship. The concept of the Fruit Jar has been forgotten. Maybe they should change the name, because it is definitely not a Fruit Jar tournament any longer.
When it all started, there were only Sardis, Enid and Grenada if I'm not mistaken. We tried a couple of years on Barnett but in two years, there were a total of 13 boats . If it wasn't for some of the MCC guys who live locally there, Barnett would have had three or four boats at each tournament.
Chotard and Washington had pretty good turnouts but for me, the 7-8 hour drive just got too long. I probably wouldn't fish those again.
I don't think the schedule was made to slight anyone and this same argument comes up every year. It seems the schedule was made to include the lakes that historically had the best participation. Ain't no sense getting riled up about it. It all started as a north MS deal and seems to be going back to its roots. DD, I love you like a brother and you more than anyone how hard it is to satisfy everyone.

Started out being for everyone, not about the money. Times change I guess. I was there from the beginning and there were about 12-14 in one tourney on Barnett. 5-6 MCC guys and several didn't ever weigh, that's why the records show not many. We fished 3 tourneys at Barnett and the weather sucked bad for 2 of them. One, we had lightning storms at 5-6 am so most stayed home, then another one, we had 30 mph winds causing folks to stay home. The one year we had
good weather, we had several teams show up. May not have been the biggest tourney but It gave the folks down this way a Chance to go to a tourney on a lake we knew, cause it was close to home . I seem to remember last year a couple tourneys only a few showed up. These were originally set up to give everyone a chance to get together and have fun. Money was never a big factor. Several MCC guys would fish a tourney here if the weather is good . Bet you'd get 12-15 teams on a day with decent weather. Folks being here, and they see horrible weather means they'll stay home. Yeh it's a trek for some but seems things are more about a payout these days instead of friends getting together to see one another to enjoy each other's company. I truly miss many of you guys, but the way things have leaned to money instead of spending time with good friends has turned not only myself but my wife off as well from tourneys.we love you guys and you guys are family to us. Its sad that money has taken away that family feel of things. Sorry for the rant but it's how I feel and I'm not he only one that feels this way. Love you guys so much .

Well I will chime in a little bit since Billy and I traveled from Arkansas to fish everyone of the MS FJ's last year. I just wanted to say that in NO WAY was it about the money for us. I really don't see how it could be about the money for anyone......just don't pay like that, in my opinion.
We just truly enjoyed meeting new people and fishing new lakes. I'm not trying to start anything with anybody, as I usually don't respond to these threads, just wanted to say its not about the money. I think we could have placed in every tourney and still not broke even with expenses.
Hope to see everyone again next year for some fishing and fellowship.......again.
