I've replaced the tie rods ends, both wheel bearings once and the idler and Pittman arms twice. Bad mechanic last time. This guy Friday took the idler n Pittman arms off with a pair of pliers so they weren't tightened properly last time

Don, if the 265 is standard size for your truck the 245 will through off your speedo which in turn confuses your computer which will change the shift points on tranny which could hurt drivability especially when towing. If you do change tires you need someone with a computer hook to computer and change revs per mile like Ress quoted.

I have a problem. SOMEONE is wrong. I'm finding that the 245 is the WIDTH of the tire, not the height

Well your info is wrong, 70 is width of tire, 17 is rim fitment size and 245/265 is diameter or height of tire. Trust me 265 is taller than 245.

245 is the width 70 is the height of the sidewalls
A 245 is not as tall as a 265.....I am looking at two new ones standing side by side.
