Last summer, two young guys in their 20s went down the Ouachita River here in Camden, Arkansas, where I live. They were motoring pretty fast and hit a submerged log. The motor kicked all the way back, cartwheeled, and landed on the driver instantly killing him right there and leaving the other guy stranded there floating downriver. Talk about a helpless & terrifying experience that had to have been. I have not been back on that river since.

It could have been much worse for you. Glad no one was hurt. GTT

The two attachments would not work for me. But the main thing is that you were not hurt. Boats, motors, and gear can all be replaced. Good people can not.

Glad you weren't hurt. Hate to see your boat messed up after all you went through to get it right.

Glad you are OK. As much as I despise dealing with insurance companies, that's why we pay like we do. I would be getting some quotes from boat dealers that deal with aluminum boat repairs. Fixing a torn up transom is not kid stuff.

We would all probably pucker up if we really knew how much stuff we pass over yearly while running the lakes and rivers. I hit something underwater on Lake Barkley several years ago that was floating just under the surface in 65 feet of water in the middle of the river channel. Never saw what it was but it sheared a couple of blades off a 4 blade SS prop. I felt lucky it didn't take the whole lower unit off.

We have had that same scenario happen twice here on KY Lake in the last 10 years. One guy lived but ripped a 200HP+ engine and transom completely off a new Ranger. The other killed a guy from MO during a bass tournament. Bad things can happen so quickly.

    Glad you are OK.

The transom although a tricky repair is not that difficult and finding someone to do it should not be a problem. Too bad about the kicker but you may be able to find a couple local divers willing to "salvage dive" it for you. BTW, if you do get it repaired and want the kicker motor in the same place you may want to have some gussetts added to better support the kicker.

Good luck with the insurance company. Most are pretty good though.

    Default Bad Crash

The guy that built the boat wants to look at. The transom is integrated with the bottom.and sides He said might be cheaper to build boat than tear all that out and repair
