going fast really doesn't have much to do with it, driving wreckless has way more to do with it. Agreed on the life jacket and kill switch because we never know, putting yourself in a situation like that is just stupid, plain and simple.
I had a very good friend who has owned dozens of very fast boats almost have this same thing happen to him, running full tilt in a little chop and came upon wakes of another boat that had gone up the river ahead of him and did not see the wakes. And he is an excellent boat driver, I would think that at a lower speed it would be less dangerous to hit unforeseen wakes than if you were running full tilt, btw, my boat don't go fast enuf to put me in that situation so I don't have to worry about it lol.
