Prayers sent to you, your family, and friends. I took a direct hit in November and lost our house. The enormity of losing your home is devastating. I hope and pray that Carol has a full and speedy recovery. My best advice is don't be impatient to get things done with insurance. It is a process that has to be done with deliberation.
