Put it where it's just in front of and level with your knees. Keep from leaning forward and gives you better vision range of pole tips. Looks like if you mounted it on forward deck you would be having to raise up out of seat to reach poles.

IT'S ACTUALLY ABOUT EVEN ,THIS PICTURE WAS A 18 INCH DRIFTMASTER , SWITCHED TO A SHORT POST AND IT WAS FINE . I also have a 4 inch extention that will put me even higher .I am also 6'4".you see the off/set post can be put toward the back for a 6 inch gain . this was what I was thinking but hate to lose any pole length (have 14 ft. now)

This is how I had my old boat. I bought the duck blind brackets from War Eagle and used the T-Track for my holders and then you could set them where you wanted them.

I like that set up couch, got light bulbs going off in my head now. What are the "T-tracks" you are talking about. I got the Hi-teks on a F and F 1654.

The T-track actually runs around the top of War Eagle and Xpress Duck Boats. I'm pretty positive that F and F has it too. It is just a groove that runs along the top of the boat on both sides. Then, you can purchase accessories from war eagle that fits the track and you are able to move them around or remove them. Keeps you from having to drill in to your boat.

If you look in the pic I posted of the boat you can see the bracket is mounted in the T-Track and the bracket is held by one wing nut. Then I mounted the pole holders to the bracket. It worked really good.
