blueball I use 7 foot MH rods that I get from Bass Pro. It's called the Tourney. I tried using a Medum action but found myself breaking off tips when using them with boards. I have six of these and they are all setup identical with a spooled back up reel in a storage compartment. I have never broken a MH in 5 years. Sometimes I'll pull one or two lines directly off the back which makes for a very nice rotation when it's time to get a bait back in the water but usually a down pole placed midway down the side will out perform one thrown directly out the back.
