    Default Chains/socks ?

Got plenty of chains at the ole farm . Every size you can think of . From average up to dozer chain . do you really need both ?If so are brush tops the main reason to need socks over chain .

I only use chains in areas where a sock will snag. They work anywhere but I don't like them as well as socks.

Don't need a big chain either Eagle, 5/16ths in 5 foot sections. Drag two, each on 25 foot of rope if it gets bad I add a 5 foot section of 1/4 inch chain to each, if that wont hold it go home. Feelay hit the nail on the head!!

I like some chains. gives me a smoother drift rather than a rock. Also allows u to get back on a path if you overshot it a few feet(more trolling motor friendly). But, I have socks as well and they get used ALOT. My boat seems to take a lot to slow it down so most times I got two chains out with 50 ft of rope and 2 socks.

I use both depending on the wind speed. I use socks mostly, but a piece of chain on one side of the boat or the other can change your drift angle, and help with boat control on drops etc.
