Now, which one of you folks has too much lead laying around? In California, they say it ain't good for you, and you know that Californians are always right! Better get rid of it now before it causes irreparable damage to you or your loved ones.

My preferred price is...FREE, but I'm not opposed to paying a fair price. How much do I need? Well, I'm not opposed to a whole stinking lot, but I'll take pretty much anything I can get.
How bout a trade. Raw material for 10% of finished product. I have about 30-40 pounds (guessing) of wheel weights. So that would be 3-4 #s of finished sinkers. What say you? I'm sure I can get more also.

Maybe a casting party or a few during the cooler months would restock everyone's tackle boxes.
I have space here, where else can we have one?

You fellows ain't kidding about the dangers of water. This year was my first experience with melting and making my own sinkers, and out of ignorance, I actually poured hot lead into a wet mold! That mess exploded like an angry volcano, and I spent a fair amount of time thanking God for keeping me safe through it. It was definitely a learning experience, and it's one that I won't have to relearn.

Man I ain't no cheat. If you supply the material and if I do the work, I'll split whatever we get 50/50 with you.

Yep for sure. I was casting one night at work with old battery lugs, they were wet. I was on my 3rd or 4th pot when a co-worker came up to see what I was doing. He picks up a lug with the nut in it, we talk and he throws it into the pot. Lead goes everywhere. Some was still hanging on the 30 foot ceiling the last I looked.

Some casters will water quince their bullets, suppose to make the lead harder. I don't understand that. I don't want water near where a pot is going. I don't care to cast on a warm day, fear of a drop of sweat going into the pot.
I wear a pair of brown jersey gloves with a pair of leather gloves over them. About the same as welding gloves but lighter in weight and cheaper.

Water is seldom anyones friend. Hot Grease or Oil, Wood etc... Everyone needs to first gain knowledge and understand for things they are intending to do. Period Dont be that guy.

Once you attain the knowledge, practice safety when doing it or you could become a Darwin Award Winner. We have all seen the Jackass stuff on TV. I didn't realize how dumb some people can be. The greater the danger the more important it is to have the knowledge. I have not heard anyone speaking about the fumes given off by the smelting process. Make sure if you're doing this that its in a well ventilated area and the area is not surrounded by combustible material. Keep your curious kids clear of the work area. Young are affected more than adults. It is not rocket science but as they say nothing is so simple that it can not be done wrong. I am no expert but I dont need to be cause I am not doing this. If you are be one.
