    Some call it Green board. It is required in some places to be used around tubes and showers where the water might get on the walls. Its a little more but worth the prices in the long run. Your outside of the tube area so I don't think its really needed.

    I never mud a seam in drywall without tape. It WILL sooner or later crack if you dont tape it. More than likely sooner as in when winter hits and you use the heat. The pros tape seams for a reason.

    all seams were taped. i got the rest of the tile down. might get the grout done today.
