Additional Electronics Battery

On my previous boat I ran four pumps on timers, an air pump, and two fish finders. This load regularly killed the Group 24 575 CCA cranking battery the boat came with. I upgraded to a Group 24 800 CCA battery; this was an improvement, but still died on occasion. That's when I started carrying jumper cables.
I put an Exide Group 27 1000 CCA battery in my new boat, with no problems thus far. But I now only have two pumps on timers, an air pump, and two fish finders.
If it were me, I would go with upgrading the existing cranking battery.

Correct. + and - from ONE trolling battery to the cranking battery.
I know where you're coming from. If you tried this stunt with AC current you'd let the smoke out of something! First time I did it I was gun shy. I just knew I was going to see a battery explode.

Cool, thanks, I was more worried about frying my starter. I haven't had a problem yet, but I've been turning off my console unit while fishing up front. Just don't want to get stranded.

we got a winner

I got a 27 series interstate for my start/accessories. Run both livewells (control right in the middle between min/max) front FF (turn the console ff off when up front same as you) and minner aerator-haven't had a problem yet-But I'm only turning over half the HP as you:)

Speck, ATM is right it's the same as tapping a transformer. You get 12 volts depending on where you tap it.As long as you connect to positive and negative you of your batteries you will get 12 volt.

I think your water pumps were killing your battery. Depth finders and air pumps are relatively low draw. For depthfinder only use, I use a low amp 12 v. battery that works great.
