The LED marker lights I installed were self grounding. The problem is probably where the wiring harness grounds to the trailer, not at the light.

I think your right. Did some further inspection on the marker lights and the new ones are all self groudning so I won't need to get new plugs I can just rewire with the new connection and with using new bolts to attach the new brakets if I need to use the old two prong connections I can just attach to one of the new bolts.
Working out perfectly. I'm able to use All of the original connections (except the left tail light) Got all of the old ones drilled out and all of the left side installed. The rear 6 lights I will have to work new slices but no big deal.
