There are 3 grades of those diggers. The cheap ones, $20 to $30. The almost cheap ones and the better ones. I saw a set of the better ones in a pawn shop for $15. I called my son to see if he wanted them, nope. 2 hours later he calls asking where they were in the store. To late, gone.

And if you go to said pawn shop and find your stuff they won't give it back. But they will be glad to sell it to you for what they have in it once they know it was stolen from you. And if you call the police, they will come out and confiscate it and lock it up as evidence until they arrest and try the person that pawned it. Either way you have to go buy new stuff to work with.

You use could stamp or engrave your ss number or phone number on a product for ID. But if stolen now, not recorded with the state or insurance company, it's just a number someone picked out to put on the item.

Wife has a co-worker that had a yard sale a few weeks ago and had a couch/recliner for sale. Lady came up, said she wanted it but had to go home to get her husband and something to put it in to carry home. Wife's co-worker closed down the sale then went inside to cool off for a few minutes and when she came back out, couch and recliner were gone. Little while later the lady that wanted them comes knocking on the door with a truck and some money...
