If people would do their homework, they would know the law has not changed all that much. HB2 simply clarifies certain language in the states constitution regarding what is concealed and what is not. Private land owners and businesses has always reserved the right to allow armed citizens on their premises. I happen to be a concealed carry license holder and former NRA Instructor. I very rarely carry open. I think it doesn't give you the best tactical advantage to carry open in most cases. I've heard comments on MS turning into the Wild West. Not true either. Respoonsible gun owners DO NOT commit crime. Its a fact. Criminals don't want to carry openly for the same reason I mentioned before, it doesn't give them an advantage tactically. That's why they wear three or four pairs of pants hanging to the knees. Plus, you have to be over 21 to legally carry, and most of those engaged in the criminal element of society have committed crimes that disqualify them from owning/possessing firearms by the time they turn 21. So they will continue to illegally carry concealed. I'll end with this. I agree with some "gun control" (control being the operative word) measures suggested. I think some are decent ideas. Problem is, I have yet to meet a criminal that wants to obey the law. So until we address the crux of the issue, we are simply spinning our wheels. SMH

The guy was asking folks if they really wanted drunk folks up in a restaurant with shotguns or something like that. He was nutz.

Had this stood I would have had a sign at my driveway at the store saying NO OPEN CARRY WEAPONS ALOUD, have no problem with concealed carry folks but someone who can not qualify for a conseal carry permit or wont bother I would rather they not be in my business with a sideam on their hip. May get slammed for this but its just me here when we are open, personally think everyone should have to have the enhanced conceal carry permit myself. We already have the right to protect you home, business, and vehicle without any issues why do I need someone binging a gun into my home or business openly, I have the protection there covered.

I can see where this freaks some folks out. I remember when the CCL license was being debated. We were heading back to the streets of Dodge City again with the "gunslinger law". Of course, that never happened. I'll still conceal my firearm. I don't want to alarm and scare people who are scared of guns and I don't want to advertise that I have a $500, or more, tool on my side to tempt some idiot who wants it. Open carry also takes away my element of surprise. I fully support open carry, if that's what a law abiding citizen wants to do.
