Thread: lakemaster versions

I posted this in depthfinder forum but decided all of the smart guebers are here. what is the difference between the version 2 and 4 lakemaster cards for a HB. Will the version 2 work on a ipilot link? Now dont disapoint me about being the smarter guebers.

No one I know uses Lakemaster. They are fairly new and haven't had maps for our lakes.

I have looked at the Ms version and did notice it didnt have any of the big 4 on there and that seems strange to me. Crappie capital of the world would think that would be one of the first that would have them.

Think Lakemaster has been more dedicated to upper Midwest for Walleye and bass.

Version 4 is, like, 2 versions newer than version two. Or better interpreted, for Yankees North of the Coffeville exit, version 2 is, like, 2 versions older than version 4.

The scary part is I understand what the gueber is sayin

But other than that, Cray is spot on. HB had to do something to combat insite maps on Lowrance, so they contracted with lake master to develop something "new", from old data. That's my interpretation anyhow. Never seen the lake master product other than the old paper maps which were pretty good as far as that goes.

I got the Ipilot Link recently. I read a bunch of stuff and after a while it all gets blurry. From what I figured out was that LM maps and the functions of the Ipilot Link will be a great tool when you are on a lake that LM covers. I believe the Link required the latest version of LM to communicate correctly with the HB unit. There were 3 updates needing installed for the Link headunit, the remote, and the HB unit to all work correctly together. I think the only function that won't work on the Link/HB is the "follow the contour" without the LM chip. I have mine Ethernet connected and so far really like it. My next trip will be to pull cranks using the Link/HB to plot a track of established way points on the HB along an area that I have caught fish on cranks in the past. Hopefully I read enough to be able to do it all from the HB unit. Will be a nice tool to be able to save those productive tracks to the HB.

Version 4 is trying to fix something crazy from version 2, They missed 3 because they done figured out they had 2 problems so they jumped to 4. As for working with I-Link, who knows. In Mississippi they only have the Tenn-Tom & Okatibbee on it. If you don't fish either place here you're just SOL. Yeah I was a sucker and bought one but I do have to say it's spot on as far as the Tenn-Tom is concerned, as long as you're on the main channel.

I hear there is a gewber working for lakemaster mapping the big 4 for them now.
