    Default I made a loop.....

A really big loop. Since the weather was not cooperating Sunday after church, I took a road trip. Took Hwy 82 from Winona to Greenwood, then down Hwy 49 to Bee Lake at Thornton, spent the next 30 minutes trying to remember which gravel road went to the landing at Little Eagle. (I fished it several times back in the 80's). Finally found it (they have a newish concrete boat landing) Then I took Hwy 12 to Belzoni, and then on across to Leroy Percy State Park (nice cabins, dont feed the gators!). Drove on to Hwy 1, then south to Glenn Allen. Lake Washington is an awesome looking lake. (gonna have to add that one to my fishing list) Many properties for sale on the lake front got me to thinking about retirement (I can retire any time now, 27 years in PERS). Up Hwy 1 to Greenville and then across the River to check out lake Chicot at Lake Village Arkansas. (Also a nice lake I fished back in my green carp days). Back to Greenville, and a quick trip downtown to look at Ferguson (Water is up there). Finally back up Hwy 82 all the way to Winona (with a quick pit stop in Greenwood for a sack of Crystal burgers!!!)

Saw one boat on the water at Washington. Bee, Little Eagle, Chicot and Ferguson were deserted...........

What is the 3 extra year drop? My wife is a teacher and has about 20 years in. We don't talk about her retirement much yet, but we may need to start looking into it. I work at a furniture factory, so I am counting on her retirement to retire me too!

28 years, you get the option for a 3 year salary lump sum in addition to your 50% or you can just draw 56%, I think that's how it works.

I think the retirement system varies from state to state. I don't have a dog in that hunt but do business with folks from LA and MS that do and theirs are slightly different I think.

Btw... That was a big loop, you have got to go back and fish Washington, and Chico is not what it used to be.

This is just an opinion but I think if were lookin for a place to retire it would be centrally located between the big 4 somewhere. Could fish all 4 then still hop on I 55 and head down to Barnett Rez for a weekend if I wanted to. Course then I would need a vacation spot on the Tenn Tomm for the months of December, Jan., and Feb, man what a life!

Jmo, but I think a retirement home in the Batesville area would be nice, especially if you had an RV to travel to the Ten-Tom and delta when you got the itch.

Hehe... Thats pretty much where I am..... I live in Winona on I55. Grenada is 21 miles north, Enid is about 40 north, Sardis bout 60 north and the Rez is about 60 south. Damn, I have my lake house and I dont even have to move!!!
