Why wouldn't a gnat work about 18 inches (give or take) up from a conventional 1/8 jig skirted w/a minner and a slip cork during spawn or when they get in closer, say 4-6 fow? Seems like it would be two different presentations in one. I like it....

So the gnat 'floats' around with the weight keeping it down. Interesting.....something ELSE to try. This crappie thingy gets confusin'. Whew!!!
Not really floating around but the minnow can move it pretty easy, just another tool in the box for catching fesh.

I always fish a poneyhead on bottom and Gnat on top both tipped with minnow. Would be real easy to tie up a 2 hook rig like your talking about Jimmy with 1/8 on bottom for weight and Gnat on top.
