Striper Question

Stripers no, strippers yes. There is a difference but both are most active at night.

Just a little bit of history. Stripers (searuns) were stocked in Sardis Lake in the late 1970s. They didn't like the lake and most wound up in the spillway for a few years before going on down the river. I caught several 12-15 lb. fish on big topwater baits, spectacular strikes to say the least. The Sardis spillway record is around 32 lb., caught on a live skipjack. They were all gone by the mid 1980s.

thanks again for answering my question. and like pops said, those striper sure do make for some great topwater action at night.

We have a blast on them down here on the rez on Cranks or on say bucktail jigs. Catch alot f them in early summer pulling cranks while trying for crappie. Know year before last I had 6 poles out for crappie and went through a school of 6-8 pound stripers and had all the poles go off. I finally got 4 of em in

DonDon, around here the shad move up close to shore late at night to spwan, from midnight on to daybreak, the top water bit is great. I catch them on, long a Bomer's or redfins and Slivers but they will hit most any top water bait. most every fish caught on topwater this time of year, here on Cumberland or Cherokee lakes will weight in the teens.
