    Default Tilt/trim question

My dad is about to give me his old 16' aluminum boat with and old 48 Evinrude on it. It does not have tilt/trim but i would really like to have it. Does anybody know of where i could get and old used one and exactly what i need to be looking for? Dad called a boat dealer and he said a new setup would be around $500. I figure i can find someone with an old worn out boat with what i need on it, but i dont know if its a one size fits all or if i need one especially built for an eveinrude.
I guess i know what i want, but don't have any idea what i need.
All input welcome. Dad said he wouldnt even put it on it but if i am fishing by myself i think it would really come in handy

I have the add on unit on one of my boats and it works well and bass pro sells it and I'm sure some of the guys on here sells them as well.

Does your shifter have the button on it?

It does not have the button on the shifter. Dad said it use to have something on the motor that acted like a tilt/trim but it was called something different. He took it off for some reason and now he can find all the parts.

I put one on my previous boat and it worked great and I gained about 5 MPH top end. It places the motor back about 5 inches from the transom and that along with being able to trim out the motor gained me some speed. I really was only after the ability to trim and tilt the motor, but the added MPH was nice too. The price on the unit they mentioned is a good deal for that unit. It is the larger of the CMC units and would handle your older 48 HP motor with ease.

Check craigslist you can find them for about 425$. You may have to drive a ways to check it out but it may be worth it. I have found 2 in Tenn.I can't decide to go with a new 4 stroke or just buy a trim unit for my old 88 Rude!
