I would think a mini 30 would suit ya if you looking for a carbine. Haven't priced them lately but should be lots cheaper than that.

Seems steep to me also. I saw some at the gun show in mint cond for much less. It may have some sentimental value to the seller. Example: I paid $20 for mine in 1965 from the NRA and wouldn't take twice that for it..
If u really want one u can fine a better deal than that...
