I have the Terrova with 60" shaft on my 18 1/2' boat and sometimes wish I had the 48". If you pull crankbaits in rough water off the rear deck I would say the longer shaft is best. If you are pushing minnows off the front, you may want to consider the shorter shaft. That 60" shaft takes a lot of room to store on the deck. And depending on which model you're considering, they make a 54" shaft that may be a nice compromise.

I had a 48 inch shaft on my power drive before I got the 60 inch on my Terrova. Never had a problem with the 48 inch shaft on my 1860. Only got the 60 inch shaft because I got the Terrova on sale and that was my only option. Good luck in your choice and like ATM said the shorter shaft is easier to store.

I have a 60 inch on my 18 ft SeaArk......the extra length keeps the TM in the water better on windy days.......it also gives you something to grab when pulling the motor up. It also makes it easier to see which way the motor is pointing. I mounted mine just off center and straight with the boat so it stows great without hanging past the side of the boat......misses the seats and the rod holders that way also.

The 54" should be ok the 60" is made for the deep V's that ride high in the bow. I have a 60" terrova w/ ipilot on my Alumacraft and its plenty long and love it. The anchor function is awesome as well as the track features.

I've never used the 60" on any of my demo boats, and I've never, under any circumstance , had a problem with the 48" I do use. I've got the 48" on my new 20' demo, and it's plenty long enough. Get the 60" if you want the head of it sticking up an extra foot in your way. Bass boats are low profile anyway.

In 3-4' rollers, pulling cranks from the rear, you might consider a 60". Rubber boots would help too!!! ;-)

    X2 on a 54" compromise.

Get the 60" and see how you like it. If its to long cut the shaft down to your liking.
