Default FINALLY heard back from the shop

Inner Tie Rod ends, Idler Arms and Pittman Arms. Quote to fix $917.45. Said 3 to 3 1/2 hours labor. They must upcharge on the parts as well. I found the Inner Toe Rods to be $35 each. Idler Arms about $45 and the Pittman Arms to be $43ish. That's only $245 for parts and that's Autozone

DD, you should take it somewhere else, or change the parts yourself. Don't know how you'll align the front end if you do it yourself though. Judging from you tone in this thread and the one from yesterday, you obviously aren't going to happy with their work. The estimate doesn't sound that far off from most other shops, but you apparently don't like this shop.

Domn;t mind the shop. What got me was it them saying it would get checked yesterday as I was getting my oil changed and it never got done. Took it back today and took another 4 hours just to get looked at. Got tires rotated and it was already on the rack and they hit me for $20.

Personally....I think any aftermarket replacement steering or suspension parts are junk if they are not MOOG........and I think your quote seems a little high....If those 4 parts were a hundred bucks apiece ( which they are not) and the labor was a hundred bucks an hour.....that would come to $750.00.....them add 80 bucks for alignment and then tax.......Looks like they are about right except the parts are priced a little high.......If they are using original GM stuff it would be close though.

Don, you really need to get another opinion. My 2000 Z71 has over 225,000 miles and has never had those parts changed. Almost unheard of for a pitman arm to go bad. Autozone parts are as good as any out there. All brand name stuff and with excellent warranties.

Yeh.....but your running stock rims Gary.....You don't have your tires and wheels sticking out past your truck body.....that changes the geometry of the whole front end of the truck and places undue stress and extra wear and tear on all of the components. And I disagree with you about Auto Zone.....most of their parts are OK but I wouldnt trust the steering and suspension parts.....buddy of mine put two sets of AZ ball joints on his lincoln......would not hold up....both times they broke within three weeks. Both times he was lucky to be going slow and not wreck.
