Thread: Got me a FryDaddy Yesterday

Got tired of pouring oil in a pot, and having to pour it out (and washing the pot) whenever I cooked fish or wings, plus someone mentioned hushpuppies the other day, and give me a hankerin' for them. Now to just get a couple "volunteers" to try it out .

"Volunteers"? Boy did you open the door there.

For the oil....not taste-testing I got no problem eatin' everything that little thing will hold (don't start it SeaRay )

Yeah, we gave that Frydaddy a ride for sure. Picked it up at Sprawlmart in Batesville. Heck we're hungry so I decide to go to Holiday Lodge for lunch, seeing as neither of us had ever eaten there. Closed M-T-W! Ok, now what? Didn't feel like Mickey Ds or one of those places. I'd never been to Windy City in Como, so that's where we headed. Cheeseburgers and fries. Pretty darn good. Headed back to Sardis and the bus. Well when we got there it was raining pretty good and we both forgot to get the Frydaddy out of my truck. No problem! I was going that way this morning anyway to check on my SIL who lives close to Harmontown, so I took it to him. He sent me a message and said just to keep it until I came back down. He better be thankful that he got it. Had I kept it I might have used it and he'd had to buy another. Anyway I was out and about today just goofing off.

I wouldn't have cared, but thanks again for droppin' it off It did work well on the test-run of french fries I had earlier

Neon, I'm gonna be nice (for now anyway). A Frydaddy has always been part of our RV gear. They are very versatile. I walked by a friend's RV and saw him sitting outside watching his Frydaddy steaming away. I asked what he was doing and he said "boiling Peanuts. Just occured to me you might not know what that is, but that is want he was doing. So they are good for more than frying.
When we were in Washington state we kept seeing oyster markets along the Hood River. I had read that they were the best you could eat, so we pulled off the road and I bought some fresh, live in the shell. When we got set up at the campground that night I put some water in the Frydaddy and steamed them. One of the best meals I've had.
Now to the other point, the size. They make a Fry Grandpappy and I think I am going to get one of those. My Frydaddy is probably 20 years old and I think I would like the bigger size. They are about $35 at KMart and probably Sprawlmart too. hard to beat the Frydaddy for versatility.

Gonna check out that Grandpappy. I really like the fact that you just plug it in and cook. No messin with dials that may not be right.
