Tap water is not good! Just asking?
tap water has minerals etc. in it that will shorten battery life.....always use distilled water.
hopefully no one uses tap water to put in batteries,,,, distilled is what i was told to use without fail.....
If I can get the current bad battery replaced (checking on warranty tomorrow) I will at the very least buy another new golf cart battery to go with it or buy 2 new series 31's and go with them. Weight and room is not an issue and the batteries are easy to get to in my boat. Whatever route I go I will probably be selling the one good golf cart battery I have. Hope to be out no more than $150 total after getting two new ones and selling the other.

I've always used tap water and get several years life out of my batteries. I always charge as soon as i get home from a trip and i usually recharge before going again if the boat has been sitting for a week or more. I think the distilled water thing is overrated, their is not enough minerals in tap water to amount to much buildup, after all how much water do you actually add to a battery during it's lifespan?
Maybe so Chris.....but distilled water is cheap......you can get it at walmart and a gallon jug will last a long time. We used it all the time at the shop I worked at for the state. I think over the long run that it does make a difference.

Knucklehead. Minerals in tap vary by location significantly. Then again, distiller water is less than a dollar a gallon at Walmart. Could be heavy tap will kill a battery in a year. Fairly clean water might only shorten life span by a few months. But the kicker is during its serviceable life instead of 100% of available power, you might only have 95, 90, 85, 80% etc of the batts true capacity.
You starting to remind me of DD. Use distiller Gewber. And if you need a second opinion, ask GDG. He will tell you what a purty genius I am.
Wannabe...
Yep.....WB is right. The more scale and sulfation you have built up on your plates the less battery capacity you have. I normaly get five years out of my batterys and I have gotten as much as seven.
