Lowrance Elite 7 question?

So, in my family, the older generation always gives the younger generation cash for christmas. When I combine what I got from parents and grandparents, I have enough to buy a decent Fish Finder/ Chartplotter. What do ya'll think about the Lowrance Elite 7's? The Lowrance® Elite-7 Hybrid Dual Imaging and the Lowrance® Elite-7 Fishfinder/Chartplotter in particular. I am not an expert, so I was hoping one of you experts could explain the difference between these two units in a way I could understand. (aim at an expalanation on a fifth grade level)

I read everything I could find on them yesterday and think the highest price one gives you the ability to overlay the DI image over your 2D that way you see your structure and it makes the fish stand out in the cover. I have convinced myself it's what I'm getting right after first of year. Think they are supposed to be avaliable in Feb.

Yeah, that is what I thought. But that seems like a pretty simple option for an extra hundred dollars....... Maybe not? Hmmm.

Don't know about that either. Saw some pictures on electronics board some time back of the overlay and it was pretty neat. Don't know how much you would ever use it though.
