    Default The Dam Store

Stopped at the Dam Store this morning. They have gotten real stingy with their minnows. Bought 4 dozen and got 53. At $2.25 per dozen you'd expect a good count. My buddy got a lousy count last Monday. When he complained they told him that they lost $1000 last month on minnows. I should have listened to him and gone somewhere else this morning. I go there because they've always treated me right....until today.

I am SO proud of Lakeway in Grenada, Chilly picked up 10 dozen this morning on the way to meet me and when I got to the house there were 8 dozen left in the baitwell and we had fished all day keeping 22. Bought 15 bucks worth the other day and had 36 dozen of MED minners, not no runts.

Wish Lakeway had a store at Sardis.

The Dam Store can kiss my dam arse, last week GDG and I decided to stop there on the way to camp, to help the local economy. We got 24 dozen minnows (runts) and paid $54.00 AFTER we asked for a discount for buying so many at one time. I did notice an American Angler feelay knife on the wall for a cool $59.00 bucks, if anyone is desperate enough to purchase it. Why don't these gewbers understand if they sell minners resonably, we will buy lots of other stuff also, but instead now we will not stop at all!

I stopped in there yesterday afternoon for a big bag of ice. The kind lady said $4.28 !!!!! I told her to keep it and went on down the road. I don't mind being a team player but I refuse to voluntarily be raped.
When I order 10 dozen minnows I expect to get 120 minnows. But I don't expect to pay $2.25 a dozen. I do appreciate it when I get more though. I normally buy at Lakeside Market where when you order 6 dozen you have to tell them to stop dipping because your afraid there going to get so many minners in the bucket that they'll start dieing. Or at Holiday Lodge where Benny will sometimes just give you the net and tell you to have at it.
One last thing. All of us should start prodding all these bait shops to start selling minners by the pound. If everyone started mentioning it every time we bought minners maybe they would listen.

They sure wouldn't loose $1000 if they sold by the pound and the anglers wouldn't get raped either. The Chevron @ 333 turn for Grenada was way too generous. I should have put half the net full she gave me back. I asked for 10 dozen. We had bait dying very soon after getting on the water since my 5 gallon bucket wasn't big enough! Lost 3 dozen or so that night and still had enough to fish all the next day. I love it when stores bag'm in 1/2 lbs w/O2 so you can walk in get a couple bags & other stuff and be on your way. Have put the bags in a storage box in the boat and not opened them till needed more bait in the bucket. They live a long time in the bags in the shade w/O2. Hate to hear the Dam store running off anglers it needs to survive.

We bought 4 dozen minnows last Friday from the Dam store. We went straight to the lake and when we went to get a minnow from the bucket 2/3's of them were already dead. Some of the minnows were totally stiff like they had been dead for a while. I usually watch them fill the bucket but we were grabbing a few other items and didn't check before leaving. All the other minnows died within a couple hours, Was not happy about that.
