Ran out of 3/8 dowels or I would have finished the top today also. I ll get some tomorrow and finish it. Wife picked a English Chestnut for the stain and I got the satin rub on poly as you guys suggested. She didnt want a lot of sheen to it.

HF?? That place takes a lot of my money. I'll be driving by there tomorrow on the way to see my doctor. I've got a few coupons too. Might as well cash them in.

I checked at HF today. They don't carry the spokeshave. The employees didn't know what I was talking about. It wasn't in the pc. I checked when I got home, that trip with not everything in stock cost me over 150. Rockler has 3, but only 1 in stock. Look online and see what else I could use before ordering.

I got mine at Harbor Freight but it was several years ago. It could be they call them something else. Most of the employees here are not to knowlegable about some of that stuff. Do a google search for spokeshaves and see what ya come up with.

I know about the knowledgable employees. I wanted a T post lift about a month ago, I called it a post jack. That took and hour to find.
