Man, I had a yacht come up the river below Pickwick one time and that thing looked to have about a 30 ft. Pontoon sitting on the back deck. The curled back wave coming off that hull put off about 4 to 5 ft rollers and almost put me on the bottom of the Tenn. River!I got close to shore and prayed and hung on for dear life! God was lookin over me that day. Them waves did slam me into the rocks on the bank. Just lucky that boat had some deep sides!If I would have had a flare gun I could have shot the captain of that boat for not yielding to a much smaller vessell!

Wouldnt have a prob with that at all but when its slick as glass and someone stands their boat staight up and moves 100 yards pushing 1 1/2 foot rollers, shuts down and 10 minutes later does the same thing, then repeat. I try hard to no push a wake on someone and would think fellar fisherman would ty to do the same. Some folks just dont think.

I know what ya mean, I do the same myself. Bass fisherman up here are terrible as well. Lots of Tournaments and everyone of em thinks they are KVD.

Slablapper, I know a guy here in town that was fishing the Tenn Tomm back many years ago and had a yacht do him the same way. Almost sunk him, bent the trolling motor shaft double when it came down on a log, busted and cracked the front of his fiberglass bass boat and alot of other minor damage. This guy cranked up and hauled it back to the landing, loaded the boat and hauled it to the next lock up river and turned the guy in ( got the number off the yacht when it came by), when he reached the lock they docked him and wrote him a citation. He had actually flipped my buddy off when he ran up beside him and got the number. A few days later the captain of the yacht called my buddy and was begging him to drop the charges, told him thats how he made his living was taking big boats up and down the river and that he would loose his capt license if he didnt drop the charges. My buddy let him sweat a few days and called him and told him to be more considerate of smaller vessels. Long story short, IT IS LAW that a bigger vessel must yield to a smaller one and ther can be consequences for not doin so. Just my 2 cents.

Lots of them glass hull boats unless they are at idle speed seem to stand up quite a bit. And running at a low speed bound to make some rough waves!They are asking to damage a transom or lower unit!Sorry for their rudeness!

It's the law, but this time of year all the yanks are having their boats piloted down to the gulf for the winter. These guys don't check up at all. They make their money per trip so they are in turbo mode to get back up north. There is a good mooring spot about 200 yards from my cabin and with the fog this time of year they all anchor with the most annoying fog alarm you have ever heard. Dang rich folks!!

I know what y'all are talkin' about, one morning in late November a few years back, i was feeshing on the Ten-Tom and met up with 11 yachets running together, one directly behind the other, now down where i was, the river ain't that wide and by the time they got past the feeshing was stirred up for about an hour. I sure would've hated to have been in a small jon boat i would have surely been swamped.

Surely there isn't anyone on here that would run trot lines? Plus that was several years ago. I didn't say nothing about that being a good crappie spot.

I've run the Sipsey in years past. Back when I didn't know no better. Spend all day going after those slimmers. The hauls going south were no problem, just had to watch for them. But north bounds would give you heck.
Those bassers give me problems sometimes, just can't get to my catfish rod with the 16 oz. sinker fast enough.
I know my flat bottom will stand up pretty good at slow speeds. So I try to get the speed up and out of the way asap.
Flare gun??? May be faster than my catfish rod.
