Thread: A question for Terrova IPilot users

I currently have a Powerdrive V2 with Ipilot on my Nitro Z6. It is only 55lbs and I need something bigger. Iam looking at upgrading to the Terrova w/Ipilot but have a concern. With the PD, if I use Spot Lock, I end up going back and forth across the spot where it is locked because of over correction. I don't know if this is because the force of the PD is too small and by the time it cathes up, it goes past the spot. Then it turns around to get to the spot again! Does anyone experience this with the Terrova? Thanks for any help. May just go to the Fortrex or Maxxum.

Spot lock will do that on the Terrovas too. Make sure to get the 101.

The spot lock does that. It takes a few seconds for the motor to feel the wind shifts, and gusts. It's a nice feature, but it isn't perfected yet. The processor in the head just can't function in REAL TIME!!!! You have to steer them and change the speed constantly in the wind for the same reason.

Yep, what they said. The ipilot has no way to detect wind speed thus it will constantly over correct on a breezy day.

They do have cruise control for the speed, but the proccessor is WAY to slow, unless your longlining or pulling cranks on a relatively calm day. If the wind pushes you faster than the cruise control setting, the motor cuts its speed to 0, and you can't steer anymore either.

If you fish by yourself much the Ipilot no matter what its on is the only way to fly, thought I was in heaven when I got a co-pilot but now I would hate to do without my Terrova w/Ipilot. It needs to go to the shop but hoping it will hold out until the 5th of Dec, wont need it till after the first then. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I went from a 70# PD to a 101# Terrova and love it. My PD would overheat when pulling cranks and really use up my batteries. On spot lock, they both do the same. When you start drifting, it will turn on at 1/2 speed, then 1 speed and by then you've drifted about 15 ft off the spot. Then it will go to 2, 3, 4 speeds and here you go. Lol. If there was a way to have the motor first turn on at about 3 speed it would work great.
