    Default Heart Attack Advice

Since we got alot of Geezers on here thought it would be good to share this. I fish alone most of the time so if I were to have a heart attack while fishing or hunting most likely no one would be around to help, never heard this before but it could save someones life.

    ALONE..

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously.A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating.
The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.

A good thing to know, especially for an old bird such as myself. I've limited my fishing as of late for this very reason, since I fish mostly by myself.

Have heard that before also. Another thing I learned the other day. My neighbors son who is a paramedic told me we should all keep a small bottle of chewable aspirin with us at all times. He says at the first sign of a heart attack you need to take at least 180 MG of aspirin. He says Thats the first thing they do for a patient when they arrive on seen. He explained that if you have a blockage and it is starting to clot the aspirin will stop that and allow some blood to keep flowing around the blockage thus reducing the chances for heart and brain damage. And if it's not a heart attack no harm done.
