Over in our loop of Oak Grove, we had a wonderful example of what makes crappie.com so great. There was an older gentleman on his first camping trip since losing the woman he called his "heartfelt companion." He was having a tough time of it without her there and had chatted some with Billbob a bit earlier in the week. By Thursday evening, we got him to come on over and eat with us (there was plenty to go around cause I don't know how to fix a "little" of anything) and we gave him a crappie.com introduction. When he got the invite to the fish fry on Saturday, he really seemed tickled. I watched him some during the festivities and he looked like he was really enjoying himself, not just the food, but talking to folks, too. He told me that Saturday was the first "social" event that he had been to since she passed away over a year ago. He was even talking about getting his boat out. Now he may never get on the site, because he says he doesn't know how to turn a computer on, but I bet Mr. Thurmond will be talking about the good folks from c.c for a long time.
He was a really nice guy. I met him at the fish fry and later that night Billbob and I took him a sampler plate of Yankee Doodler's Phatties, he said he couldn't believe how good they were. Hope he remains active with us in some way.

Have to agree with Vonna. It was a blessing for me to meet Mr. Thurmond. He and Charlie sure made my day. Can't say enough good things about all the MC.c folks being so outgoing to him. Several folks told him how to get on the site. He said he'd get his son to get him started. Would have shown him at camp, but no signal. Really, I think he just liked eating something he didn't cook. Just funnin. Waitin on next time.

I am like Vonna, he sure seemed to just be really enjoying the company and socializing with everyone. Great things being done by a bunch of great people.
