    Default Surplus City Closing

Hated to see this today. Can't remember when they weren't on Hwy 80. Hope someone reopens the indoor firing ranges. Going to check out the sale tomorrow.

Wish they were closer, I'd be joining you on a shopping spree.

JimFish I remember them when I first moved here in mid 70's. 2 things I remember most they had a isle with hundreds of Bomber crank baits for little or nothing and always had a cardboard barrel filled with Fenwick rods and blanks for 5/8 dollars ea. And when they would have a sale they would practically be giving stuff away and with what I was making in the Navy back then they were about the only place I could afford. Also remember the original Freds on Getwell back then had a pretty good fishing dept. Meet Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston and Tom Mann at that one. So sad the big box stores have put all those places out of business.

Remember the store well from my youth. I bought me a 20 ga. single shot Falcon Dickson when I was 12 for $15.
I'd watch the Bill Dance show, then head there for the show specials. They had a Pleugar trolling motor on sale for $39., show special for $29. All of our tackle came from there or Memphis Imports.
