    Default I hate gars!!!!!!!!

Got up this morning and went to parts unknown, to me anyways. Caught my first crappie at 1045 but the gar bite was on, bet I went through 25 or so rigs today but once I found the target species I could catch about one for every 4 gars I hung. Think I ended up with 20 but it was a long hard day to get em, crappie feshing this time of year sure is teaching me patience. Learned alot and had a good day on the water inspite of the gar fish.

Good job Rees. Keep at it. You will learn how to tell a Gar bite and just let most shake themselves off.

I got better at as the day went on, also when I did hook one I would let it wear down and retrieved several rigs that way. I REALLY HATE THEM THINGS!!!

Them gar are just part of the game there. Like DD said, if you can give em some slack they usually shake it loose. Hooked into about a 30-40 pounder earlier this year at the cutoff and before anybody was able to control a pole 5 were wrapped up and lines broken.

I know but we talking prolly 300 gar hits ifn 10% of them stay on all heck breaks loose. I hung one that got in another pole, he was almoost 5 foot long, by the time I got him wore down he was just holding the stupid line, cut it one side and pulled it through his jaws. He was the only one that gat tangled so that part was good but the sho kept me busy.

Break their nose off. They won't bite no more.
