DD, have the front drive shaft u-joints checked. My 2000 Z-71 was doing that. Wound up having to replace the front have of the transfer case. U-joints were gone and the first time I hammered on it it banged enough to crack the case. Front drive shafts are NEVER checked when they service the vehicle. It's concealed up under the skid plate. I had the front axles replaced and still had the noise. U-joints cost less than $100. Front half of transfer case: $700 plus approximately $500 labot. Get it checked quick DD.

Id look fer a nest of baby robins for the chirpin and that pop one of fell in the fan blade.
