Loop your line thru the egg sinker 5 times to ensure it don't slip. I use a barrel swivel and one piece of line. When I tie it to the swivel, I leave the tag about 8" long.

As for weight, the deeper I fish, the more weight I use. I normally try to use a minner hook or gnat on top and a jig head on bottom, but sometimes I'll put two jig heads on it.

The reason I use a barrel swivel instead of a three way swivel is because I'm lazy and don't wanna tie but one knot.

I also use a snap swivel on my main line in case I wanna change rigs.

Thanks Minner. How do ya tie your loop knots?? I tried the tradition knot where you do an overhand, run thru the hook, come back thru the overhand, wrap around the line and back thru the overhand and titen, made me dizzy. Checked it for strenght and then just made my loop, using the two lines made and overhand going thru it three times and titen it up, as good of knot strength if not better and I aint quite as dizzy.

I use a drop loop knot instead of a swivel. I also use a pinch on weight so I can change them out without retieying them in case the wind picks up or I want to fish deeper. One thing I do at times I just slide one hook onto the line, then tie the bottom hook on. I'll use a triple overhang knot to tie the top hook on, then tie single overhand knots from the drop loop to the top hook to make it stand out away from the main line. At times you'll want to have both hooks close to one another if you've found the depth the fish are at. Then at other times, you'll want them 18-24 inches apart to cover more water depths.

I make a loop with the main line and spin it 5 times, pull it tight, then a single overhand knot will lock it. Just cut one end at the knot and you'll have a long tag to tie the other hook on. NEVER had one break at the knot and I've landed some 6-7 pound cats on the hook at Eagle Lake

Only loosers use swivels. And only gewber loosers use 3 ways.
