Some dogs might now work, but we have a Basset Hound that will keep pretty much every critter at bay if given the chance. Deer, coons, possums, armadillos, cats, fireflies, beetles, downed locusts, rabbits, squirrels... it doesn't matter much. She's going to baroo at it.
try a bar of irish spring soap in a pair of panty hose . every time it rains it will activate the smell . have used this with some success .
"try a bar of irish spring soap in a pair of panty hose ."
You can cut the panty hose in half. Have 2 hose, cut a bar in half. Half a bar in the foot of the hose and hang some 10 to 15 foot apart. With the lack of rain, carry a bucket of water with you. Soak soap bar in water a few seconds every few days.
Tenderloins on the grill or smoker. Urban deer are pretty darn smart as to smells and food. I have used the barber shop, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, and a whole lot of other ideas. .22 Mag and SSS has been the best garden defense system yet.

EZ got me to using white string. It has worked so far. Kept'em outta my pea patch, and you know how they like peas.
The hair from the barber and beauty shops work. Refresh it no less than a week apart. Got to keep the human scent there.
The irish spring soap works, got to keep the scent going.
A fence of heavy mono line works, until the get use to it.
White shopping bags work. Got to replace them about every 2 weeks, and place them in different locations.
White cord works, a fence of 3 strands maybe best.
Moth balls work, if you can edge the garden without going bankrupted.
A couple of radios work, tuned to 2 different stations. Keeping them working if in wet conditions.
Your daily dirty laundry works. The stinkier (sweat) the better. All of them.
Your piss works, hope you can fill a few gallon jugs daily. Edge the garden with it. Let it sit in the sun a day before using.
Since I live in the city, I need a surpressor for my rifle or get a crossbow.
We use natural products that contain Coyote Urine. The easiest to use is Deer Repellent Packs. The Coyote Urine raises havoc with the deer's keen sense of smell and instinctive fear of predators. The packs are easy to hang, weather resistant and last up to 90 days. You can check them out at DeerRepellentPacks.com
When I read about the white string, I thought "no way this works." But after having the dogs knock over my tomato cages to get at the deer repellant, I spent $1.50 on a spool of white string at the dollar store, and I was surprised to find it did work. I ran it around the entire garden at just about thigh high, then tilled the ground to remove the existing deer tracks. I haven't had a deer back in there since running the string.
